Spy Games – Homeland

Every so often I’ll be highlighting some of the spy games I’ve picked up from various second hand stores over the years. I haven’t played most of these yet, as finding willing spy game participants can be tricky, but I’m hoping to road test some of these as the kids get older.

HOMELAND was the Showtime spy show that was, to me, the least likely to be turned into a fun party game. Claire Danes CIA spy was a tortured figure fighting numerous demons. Watching each episode was rewarding but by the end you felt like you’d been put through the ringer.

The game attempts to capture some of the drama and tension of the show for three to six players. Players have to analyze different scenarios and run agents in what seem to be a quite complicated way. Slate ran a fun feature with three former CIA analysts who played the game.
