Spy Games – Robert Ludlum’s Game of Counter-Espionage

Every so often I’ll be highlighting some of the spy games I’ve picked up from various second hand stores over the years. I haven’t played most of these yet, as finding willing spy game participants can be tricky, but I’m hoping to road test some of these as the kids get older.

The way most folks know the name Robert Ludlum now would be the The Bourne Identity, the book which was turned into the blockbuster movie starring Matt Damon. However before that, he was one of the biggest thriller writers of the 70’s and 80’s.

As such, it’s no surprise that some entrepreneurial game maker tried to parlay that into a spy game. This particular attempt was called Robert Ludlum’s Game of Counter-Espionage. A quick perusal of the game contents and rules make it look rather complicated for my brain but the most interesting thing in my mind are the hand written comment on the instructions.

We’re they written by a avid gamer? The game maker themselves after the rules had already gone to print? The world may never know…
